Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Group Fitness / Exercise to Music
IQ Lifestyle — REPS UAE Approved Provider | Dubai, UAE
Teach Classes. Lead Rooms. Build a Following
If you love the energy of a group fitness class and want to be the one leading it, this is your qualification. This certificate gives you everything you need to plan, design and deliver your own group fitness sessions to three or more people — whether that is a conditioning class, a dance fitness format, or anything in between.
There are two certificates available within this course and which one you receive depends on how you work with music:
Exercise to Music is for instructors who work with the beat and phrase of music as the foundation of their classes. If your sessions are structured around the rhythm and timing of the music — including dance fitness styles, pump-style conditioning and choreography-based formats — you will be issued the Exercise to Music certificate. Think Zumba-style dance fitness, hi-lo aerobics or any class where the music drives the movement. You will have the skills to design your own choreography and sessions from scratch, or deliver pre-choreographed formats. Please note that branded programmes such as Zumba and Les Mills require an additional licence directly with that brand after certification.
Group Fitness is for instructors whose sessions use music to enhance the atmosphere, but who are not working with beat and phrase. If your classes are built around movement, effort and results rather than choreography — functional training, HYROX-style workouts, CrossFit-style conditioning, circuit classes — you will be issued the Group Fitness certificate. You will be fully qualified to create and deliver your own versions of these programmes independently.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites for either pathway. To get the most out of your studies you should:
-
Be regularly attending group fitness or exercise classes — the more formats you have experienced as a participant, the better prepared you will be
-
Have a reasonable level of physical fitness — the course involves physical participation and practical delivery
-
Have a basic level of English. Translation support can assist during the course, but as this is a UK-accredited qualification, study materials and assessments are delivered in English. Working as a group fitness instructor in the UAE requires clear communication with a room full of participants — so a basic level is essential for both your studies and your career
-
What You'll Study
Both certificates cover the same foundational units plus their specialist delivery module:
-
Anatomy and physiology for exercise
-
Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
-
Principles of exercise, fitness and health
-
Supporting clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
-
Planning your sessions — choreography and session design
-
Instructing and delivering group sessions

Is There a Job Guarantee?
This is one of the most common questions we get asked, and it deserves an honest answer.
Any course provider that guarantees you a job after certification is something you should be very skeptical of. Getting hired depends on many factors beyond a qualification — your personality, character, wider skill set, and whether you are the right fit for a specific role. A club may need an Arabic-speaking female instructor, and if that is not you, that particular job is simply not yours regardless of how strong your CV is. That is the reality of any industry.
What is guaranteed is this: without the certification, the opportunities that come with real career progression will not be available to you. The qualification is non-negotiable. It is the entry point. Without it, the door does not open.
Where IQ Lifestyle makes the difference is what happens after you qualify. When fitness clubs and employers reach out to us, we know our graduates personally. We know who you are, how you work, and whether you are the right fit for what they are looking for. That is something a CV sent cold into a database cannot do for you.
Breaking into the group fitness industry is challenging at first — everyone has a certificate. Getting past that requires a network and people who can vouch for you personally. Through IQ Lifestyle you become part of a well-connected community with strong industry partnerships across the UAE and internationally, including partners such as Matrix Fitness Middle East and many others. We work on major events and projects, and our graduates are working across the UAE and beyond.
Sometimes a role is not the right package for you. Sometimes you are not the right fit for that particular role. But your chances of finding the right opportunity are significantly greater as part of the IQ Lifestyle network than going it alone — because we can open doors for you that you simply would not be able to open by yourself.
